Bio

Amie "Live Wire" Spade definitely lives up to her nickname; on any course her insatiable energy and smile can be seen even through the most gruelling of challenges. Her spirit for adventure and a background in athletics led her in 2014 to competing again in OCR and Edurance following two difficult pregnancies which led to some serious health issues. A 38 year old mother of two, Amie, is best known for being the only woman to win the Spartan Death Race Challenge. But she has also competed in events all over the world where she has achieved top placements. A well rounded athlete, her impressive results include ultra-marathon, OCR  and adventure racing.

In June 2016 to raise money for Breast Cancer Now, as well as to have a bit of adventure, Mark Wood (a fellow death racer) and Amie attempted to run the whole of the 3 peaks challenge on foot. Starting at Snowdon the route would total 466 miles over 8 days. After 5 days they had made it 277 miles. Following this they had to take a vehicle for a portion due to an injury suffered by Mark and some complications with the route. They did run all 3 peaks, but where unable to continue on the full planned route as a team due to Mark's injuries.

In addition to being a formidable competitior, Amie is known for work within the media and for major race companies in the endurance sphere. She is most passionate about helping others become better athletes and find confidence in themselves. Amie hopes to be a source of inspiration for those just getting started in endurance racing in particular. Her future goals include finishing Fuego Y Agua Nicaragua Survival Run, which she will be taking on again in February 2018, and to be the first woman to complete the entirety of the Wild Atlantic Way.
